Walking the Women’s Way in the World


Have you been hearing a call in your soul? This ancient call is recurring louder than ever in our modern times. We as women are being called upon to rise, to shine, to unite, to live our best lives, to blossom into our full potential.

Why is this so important, and why now?

“The world will be saved by the Western woman” is a widespread quote by the Dalai Lama, and it is truer now than ever. We as women embody qualities that the world is hungry for at this point in time.

When we as women rise towards the pinnacle of our potential, we automatically spread the much-needed qualities that we as women embody. Care, connection, creativity, community, empathy, emotional intelligence, intuition are a few of these feminine values. There also seems to be a natural mechanism, especially within women that once we achieve personal success, we long to share, care and contribute to a better world.

When women achieve personal success, there is a longing to share, care and contribute to improving the wider world.

woman-sun-goddessWe have been living in a masculine-oriented society for hundreds if not thousands of years- which of course has brought us many benefits in the way we live today. At the same time however it has also brought a bereftness of natural resources as we have distanced ourselves from our natural way of being in the world. It is time for the masculine qualities to be evened out with the feminine in order to restore the balance on our planet.

Slipping out of Society’s Straightjacket

Most of us women have been raised in a world where it was taught that success in our careers, finances and lives could only be achieved by adapting to a masculine world and adopting masculine values.

We have more or less successfully squeezed our feminine essence into society’s straightjacket in order to try and fit into a form that we were never meant  to fit into.

And again, these masculine values can be valuable for us as well- but they need to be built upon a feminine foundation. When we rediscover the women’s way of being in the world, we reclaim a feminine foundation upon which we can build and symbolically marry the masculine:

Marrying the Masculine and the Feminine

This is the holy matrimony or sacred marriage- when two opposing parts of our personality unite, bringing forth a new way of being in the world. Restoring the balance between:e5d8a53b6ca0bfc051753f2a67c7425f

  • Strength and Sensitivity
  • Stability and Surrender
  • Independence and Interdependence
  • Intuition and Intelligence
  • Assertiveness and Affection
  • Ambition and Acceptance

When a woman is in balance in her feminine and masculine, there is a quality emanating from her. That quality I call the divine feminine, it is the light of the soul shining through a woman’s body. And once we begin to nurture our feminine nature, it is as though we reclaim a part of us that we might have forgotten or never even knew we had. We arrive back home to ourselves.

So let’s have a look at some of the ways for us women to reconnect with our feminine essence:

1. Breath

The first and most essential tool that I use is the breath. The Swedish word for breath is: ‘andning’ and ‘ande’ means spirit, so you could say that the breath is the movement of spirit. Accessing that divine (feminine) quality within us, for me, means to just breathe and know that the breath is the divine. This is why the breath is so essential in feeling those qualities within ourselves.

It is about a certain type of breathing though because when we breathe in a shallow way, we do not feel these divine qualities. I usually teach prolonging the breath rhythm as in allowing the inhale and exhale to be longer, for instance, by counting slowly to 4 on the inhalation and counting to 4 on the exhalation. This conscious breath allows you to fall into the well of the divine within you.

2. Dance

The divine in women shows itself in the fact that we have the capacity to shine our light through our skin. When a woman feels good there is this light and it is moving, unlike men who have a one-pointed presence when they feel good within themselves. So for me movement is one of the things that has helped me to move into my divine feminine. And dancing! Just dancing to some music that you like and that makes you feel at home in the body can help you experience the joy of moving through life in the feminine way.

3. Touch

Touch is another essential element for embodying the divine feminine. It can be by giving yourself touch, getting a massage or exchanging touch with another woman. This is something we do a lot in the women’s rooms, in a way worshipping the divine feminine in each other- the spark of divinity that we all are.

Touch naturally creates certain well-being hormones in your body, oxytocin being the most important one but also nitric oxide which is more like a transmitter substance, which comes whenever you feel pleasure. Pleasure is another essential practice- to simply ask yourself what gives you pleasure and doings these things on a regular basis will also support the divine being that you are to shine through.

These are of course only three practices for you to start with and there is so much more that I would like to share with you! That extends the scope of this blog article though. But… I now have a new way to share these practices and teachings and so much more with you and so it is with so much passion and pleasure that I present:

3 Keys to Freeing your Feminine Essence (by Nicky de Koning)

ffe 1During the month of March, Women’s History Month is celebrated across the world. This reminds us that as women we have come a long way, especially in the Western world. We now have many opportunities to create the lives we wish for and each day we strive to make the best out of our careers, relationships, health, family, leisure time…

Most of us have achieved a certain degree of success in the outer world, now the question arises: did our inner world keep up?

As we go about our day, we naturally nurture everyone and everything that needs our care. We forget that the greatest gift we can give to others is to first take care of ourselves. Sounds ironic, right? But remember the safety instructions on airplanes. They always mention how mothers need to pull the oxygen mask first on themselves before tending to their children. It seems to go against our nature, yet how can we help others if we can’t even breathe ourselves? This brings us to the first key to connecting with our feminine nature: our breath.

1. Sinking into our Feminine Essence

It’s easy to take our breath for granted. We don’t need to think or do anything, it just happens. But once you do pay attention and observe your breath, it will slow down and you’ll begin to relax.

We can then take the next step by connecting with our heart and womb, the home of our feminine essence. A simple and beautiful technique that Ramya teaches in her programs is what she calls ‘plugging in’. We do this by putting our hands on our heart and womb and bringing our attention there, as we consciously breathe in and out.

Breathing here, we start to sink beneath all the layers that we usually present to the world. This is when we touch into our feminine essence. The place where we find our hidden potential, creativity, passion for life, forgotten dreams and our authentic personality. At the bottom lies a source of love that no one else in our lives could ever replace. A treasure that we can bring back up and share with the world.

We are the only ones who can give ourselves the time to dive deeply into our feminine essence and retrieve the treasures that we might have forgotten.

 

2. Feeling is the Key to Healing

When we retrieve these treasures, we might also come across unpleasant items. As much as we would like to keep them deep down, our painful memories, emotions, disappointments, and difficult situations are all part of life. A good mantra to remember in this context is that: feeling is the key to healing.

free your feminine essenceA loving way to do this is by first connecting with our feminine essence as we did in the previous step. From there we can embrace all our feelings with love, just like a mother would take a crying child into her arms. The more safe this child feels the more it will dare to express its feelings. In the same way, the more we take care of our inner child, the more of our old and unconscious emotions will show up to be embraced and healed.

By healing our old pain, we free ourselves from blockages that might have been holding us back. We create room for the new to enter. This also creates a new outlook on life. As we begin to see through the eyes of our feminine essence, we look at everything and everyone with more love, including ourselves.

3. Making Conscious Choices

This is the moment we can begin looking at our choices. In the end, it is the sum of our decisions that can either bring us closer to living the life we love or further away from it.

Have you ever realized how we unconsciously make choices based on different ‘voices’? Voices of people that have influenced us throughout the years and that have now become a part of our own mind. You might recognize the voices of your partner, friends and even still your parents. We are so used to listening to these voices of outer influence(r)s that we easily forget that there is always an inner voice speaking to us; the voice of our feminine essence.

She can speak in a silent whisper, a certain feeling, an image or a song that suddenly comes to your mind. The moment you start following these impulses, magic happens. You run into the right people at the right time or books and events show up that will help you along your path. It is that feeling of being supported by the universe and ‘in the flow’. A flow that can lead right up to your dreams if you trust it.

Once you start following the impulses of your feminine essence, magic happens.

At this point, we can ask ourselves how our unique feminine essence wants to express itself in the world. As women we have the potential to give birth to a new child literally, or we can symbolically give birth to a new project, business, blog, book or dream. The moment we begin to live from our feminine essence, we will begin to discover or rediscover these talents. As long as we stay closely connected to our womb and heart, we will be guided.

The world will be saved by the Western womanOne way to deepen this process is by joining a group of women who are on the same path. In the past two years, I have had the opportunity to be part of many of the beautiful programs by Ramya Norell. In a nourishing and inspiring atmosphere we learn new tools, remember forgotten truths and reconnect with our true selves. A potential and power awakens when we as women connect to our own feminine essence and with each other in a heart-centered way. The Dalai Lama said that ‘the world will be saved by the Western woman’. And when these awakened Western women unite, we can truly move mountains.

Last year, Ramya started offering a Women Facilitator Training in which she shares her knowledge and experience of working with women in this transformative way for 16 years. Being part of this training is an inspiring, empowering and fun experience. As participants, we are currently offering women circles as part of our practicum. Shaking: Stress release


In this video I’d like to give you an easy way to activate your life energy. This technique is also a great stress release tool as well as a healing modality.

It has different names, but I simply call it Shaking.

The first time I encountered Shaking, was when I was introduced to Osho Kundalini Meditation many years ago. This meditation has four stages of each 15 minutes, where the first one is shaking, then dancing, then sitting still and finally lying down on your back resting. It is often done at the end of the day to release and shake off any tensions accumulated from the day.

Osho Mediation – Kundalini

There is a Balinese healer, Ratu Bagus, who is using shaking as a healing modality in his center on Bali. It is said that people are healed from different diseases, by shaking several hours a day. Here you can read more about this method of Shaking.

In the early 90’s I was introduced to the AUM meditation from the Humaniversity in Holland, and in one of the 13 parts of this social and dynamic meditation journey there is a shaking part, with a great song called Kundalini Rising that I use in the video. Self-love Practice


Today’s video will inspire you to bring more self-love into your life, and there is a very simple and powerful way to do that.

When you love yourself on a daily base you raise your vibrational field and you start to vibrate in a higher frequency, which is resonating with your true nature as you simply align with what the Universe has known all along:

“You are love, you are beautiful, you are precious, you are magnificent, you are free, you are light…”

As most of us carry subconscious beliefs that are rooted in fear, it is extremely important to know what self-love can do to these subconscious, lower vibrational states, that sometimes totally take over and “rule the show”, especially in our relationships with other people.

The Five Tibetans Rites


Today’s video will show you a powerful way to activate your life energy, vitalize your hormonal glands, align the chakras and, it is even said, to rejuvenate you! 

A little background to the video:

I had a dear friend visiting me in 1991 and he introduced me to the Five Tibetan rites – also referred to as The Fountain of Youth. He said he was doing this 10-minute rejuvenating and energy balancing practice since many years and invited me to do it with him. 

Even though I could feel this really could be a great way to start my day, as he was doing it, it still took me a long time before I actually made this a daily practice in my own life. I had this thing of starting something off, being really enthusiastic and then dropping it after not a very long time. Then eventually starting again, to drop it again…maybe some of you recognize this 😉 This was again another variation of not valuing myself enough, as I wrote about yesterday. 

Someone has said that it takes 30 days of repetition for the subconscious mind to register a new habit and up to a year, before it is really a permanent habit.
